Welcome to Scan Memphis! This site goes into the details of the new Memphis and Shelby County joint digital radio system. This radio system has been in development for a very long time, and deployment of it has been rather slow. But finally, it has become a reality, and the traffic heard on it has been rather interesting.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office along with the Shelby County Fire Department have joined with Memphis on this new system. The Sheriff's Office was using an EDACS type radio system. While it was a good system, the coverage was poor in the outlying areas of the county. This, coupled with the fact that both Memphis' VSLEP and SCSO's EDACS systems were not APCO 25 compliant, pushed the County and the City to make a deal and build this joint radio system.
